Homemade Baby Food: Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes seem to be Fiona's favorite food - aside from breast milk - so far.  It's a great first food for babies 4-6 months old because it has a low allergy risk, and sweet potatoes are high in potassium as well as Vitamins A and C.  Plus they're just yummy.

Sweet Potato Puree
  • 1 peeled sweet potato, either boiled or steamed until soft
  • about 1 cup of water
  • In a blender or food processor blend sweet potatoes and water until smooth
This will make quite a bit of food, so you might want to freeze some in ice-cube trays, then store them in baggies or containers.  Frozen food lasts up to 2 months in the freezer or 2-3 days in the fridge.
